The "Jakubowski" is probably the first spot I discovered in the field of gastronomy. When I moved out at the age of 18 and moved into my first apartment in Mülheim I discovered my new hood strolling along the streets and found the "Café Jakubowski".
In the midst of the very rough area Mülheim and probably the least favorite corner of many Colognians, the "Jakubowski" stuck out with its elegant sophisticated style. Its high ceilings, large windows that let in lots of light and the natural materials enrich the café space with a certain lightness and radiate tranquility even though it can be very busy, especially at lunch time.
Around here in Mülheim the "Jakubowski" is no longer just an insider tip. The audience is mixed with residents of the area, students of the surrounding schools and artists from the nearby studios and offices.
At any time of the day the "Jakubowski" offers a large selection of German and central European dishes. You can have breakfast all through the day until the evening (18:00), which could be particularly interesting for the late risers among us. In addition to cold cuts and spreads, which you can choose, they offer muesli, yoghurt and various egg dishes. Lunch is chosen from bagels, baguettes and foccacias or three different daily specials, which are all served fresh and steaming hot. On Sundays there is the legendary Sunday roast, which has been a tradition in many families for a long time.
