Lichtspiele Kalk is an independent cinema with a screening room that seats 87 people. Lichtspiele shows not only contemporary films, but also children's films and classics. For example, I went to see Michelangelo Antonioni's Blow-Up (1966) and Isabella Eklöf's Holiday (2018) at this cinema. The screening room is also available for hire for private events.
The Lichtspiele lobby is advertised with the lovely 1-minute musical "Let's All Go to the Lobby" (1957). The lobby is decorated in a retro style and has a snack bar where you can buy popcorn and the usual drinks, as well as craft beers from local brewery BrewSistas. If you want something to eat before or after a film at Lichtspiele, I recommend either the Japanese vegan restaurant Nobiko (booking essential) or Café Villa Kalka, both within walking distance of the cinema.
To get there, take either tram 1 or 9 to Kalk Post or Kalk Kapelle, or S-Bahn 12, 13 or 19 to Trimbornstraße.
