Slanchogled (which means sunflower in Bulgarian) is probably the oldest store for craft and art supplies I know, and it still remains one of the best-curated in Sofia. Visiting there has been a favorite ritual of mine, especially since I haven't been crafting much lately. One can still find inspiration or purchase splendid decorations.
Recently, Slanchogled changed its location and is now situated close to two of my favorite parks in Sofia, in the beautiful Oborishte region: Zaimov Park and the picturesque Doctor's Garden, which we have previously written about.
You can find a wide selection of colors, brushes, canvases, pencils, and fine liners, suitable for both experienced artists and those just venturing into the world of art. My all-time favorites are the sketchbooks (especially the ones with black pages) and the papers.
An interesting fact: there is another Slanchogled shop in Camden Town in London as well.
