So even if you're into a particular kind of food, when you visit a new place you get the urge to taste traditional food. I can tell you that the greatest thing about Albanian food is that the plates are ALWAYS full and there's no chance that you would finish your dish and still be hungry, like no way at all. Well, there are a lot of good traditional restaurants in Tirana but I'd like to suggest one that in my opinion is the very best: Mrizi i Zanave.
The name itself comes from old Albanian myths and means a place where the good "fairies" would stay and live. Probably everyone would suggest the same place so it would be better if you made a reservation before you go 'cause it's very crowded.
What I love about this place is the fact that they are the only place in Tirana that cook this traditional dish from the north of Albania, named "fli", yep, it's a MUST try.
Sometimes on weekends they invite folk musicians who play old Albanian songs and everyone starts dancing (it will look like a wedding, I promise).
So if you feel like having a good, traditional meal and also a good time, I think you now know where to go. Remember most traditional Albanian food is grilled meat and things that have to do with meat, lots of it, something you should probably know if you're vegetarian or don't eat meat in general.
