On their own website they announce themselves as: "probably the smallest patisserie in Vienna“, and it might easily be true. Hüftgold is located on Meidlinger Markt and does not own the entire typical little market building, but only half of it, instead. Compared to well-established market places like Anna am Markt or Milchbart, Hüftgold is a bit more hidden and not as easy to find. Once you have made it there, however, you will not be disappointed. Its self-made sweets and fantastic scents are all over the place! The product range varies from Austrian specialties like Apfelstrudel or Guglhupf to international classics like cookies and all kinds of cakes. The offer might change on a daily basis, as they are freshly baked within their own store.
All cakes are cut in twelve pieces, based on the twelfth district, where Hüftgold is located. The strong bond to their geographic roots can also be found in other details. The sweets are named after the surrounding streets in the area, and products that are not home-made, like chocolates or marmalade, are purchased from local, sustainable sources. Very likable and highly recommended!
